Samsung has said today that they have sold 1 million Galaxy Tab tablets already, surpassing their expectations.
When the device launched two months ago, Samsung said it expected to just hit 1 million sales by the end of the year.
The device sells on all four major carriers in the U.S., and on a number of carriers worldwide.
Both Verizon and AT&T said recently they were “encouraged” by Tab sales, but neither revealed specific numbers.
For comparison’s sake, the market leader Apple iPad hit 1 million sales in just 30 days, and sales have recently topped 8 million.
Samsung’s tablet runs on Android 2.2, has a 1GHz processor, a 7-inch multi-touch screen and dual cameras.

Sony has reported today that they have shipped 1 million Move motion controllers in the Americas for the PlayStation 3 in just 30 days since launch. Sony Europe reported 1.5 million sales for the EU during the same time.
President Jack Tretton said the Move system is already out of stock in most retail stores and the company expects that strong Move sales will lead to an increase in console and software sales during the holiday season.
“Sales are brisk,” concluded Tretton, via the WSJ.
The Move, when teamed with the PlayStation Eye camera, gives gamers a chance to interact directly with their games using hand motions and other physical movements.
Sony sells the controller by itself for $49 or bundled with a game and the Eye for $99.
Microsoft will begin selling their rival Kinect system on November 4th.

Apple has announced today that on Friday the company sold its 1 millionth iPad tablet, just one month after its release.
The iPad, in its Wi-Fi-only version, was released on April 3rd, and quickly sold over 300,000 units.
Additionally, iPad owners have downloaded 12 million apps from the App Store, and over 1.5 million e-books from the newly launched iBookStore.
“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” says CEO Steve Jobs. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
Developers have created 5000 apps specifically for the iPad, with some of the most popular being legal streaming movie and TV show services such as Netflix.
The Wi-Fi only version is available now starting at $499 for the smallest capacity version.
