AT&T has announced this morning that it will begin selling the Amazon Kindle 3G in stores in the U.S., beginning on March 6th.
The device can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, as well as AT&T’s nationwide 3G network.
AT&T will include the device in its “connected devices displays” throughout the store, allowing would-be buyers to test out the e-reader.
Says the carrier:
Amazon has without question pioneered the eReader space with Kindle, and it’s exciting to not only connect this device through our network, but now offer it in our stores to readers around the country. As the first dedicated eReader offered in our stores, we are confident the Kindle will be an attractive addition to our in store connected devices lineup.
The updated Kindle 3G can hold up to 3500 e-books internally, and Amazon has 810,000 books available. The device has one month of battery life when not connected to Wi-Fi.
There are no contracts or data fees and the devices sells for $189.

After announcing a CDMA iPhone 4 available on its network in February, word also came from Verizon about an iPad that will use its CDMA network.
Verizon Communications CFO Francis Shammo revealed the upcoming iPad to Bloomberg, which will feature built in CDMA features. Verizon already offers Apple’s iPad in bundles with its MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot device, which does not come cheap.
Shammo did not reveal anything else about the iPad. He didn’t indicate whether it will be the same iPad with just CDMA support added (like the iPhone announced Tuesday) or if it will be a new rumored next generation iPad.
The revelation comes as more bad news to AT&T, who up until Tuesday was officially the only provider offering the iPhone. AT&T also sells an iPad that uses its 3G network.

T-Mobile USA has taken their “America’s Largest 4G Network” ad campaign to the next level tonight, taking a direct shot at AT&T and the iPhone 4.
In the new ad, dubbed “Piggyback,” T-Mobile plays up the fast speeds of its HSPA+ network, which boasts speeds faster than Sprint’s 4G.
Playing off Apple’s famous “Get a Mac” campaign, T-Mobile starts the commercial with two people standing next to each other, one being a MyTouch 4G and the other being an iPhone 4, piggybacking another person.
The iPhone is being “weighed down” by AT&T 3G network and lack of 4G, with the ad taking time to explain that T-Mobile users can video chat while connected to HSPA+, while iPhone 4 users can only use the FaceTime video chatting app when connected to Wi-Fi.
