Apple, trying to deflect some of the bad press from their iPhone 4 ‘antennagate’ debacle has posted videos over the past weeks showing how other smartphones also lose cell reception when held in the “death grip.”
The most notable video shows the new Motorola Droid X losing reception within seconds after being gripped tightly.
Beginning tomorrow, Motorola is striking back at the controversial videos, by placing a full page ad in newspapers mocking the iPhone 4’s need for a case to avoid reception issues.
Reads the ad in full: “At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30 years.”

Following recent blockbuster leaks such as that of Resident Evil 5, Electronic Arts’ Sims 3 game has been leaked to P2P, a full 15 days before its official release date.
The ISO file is 4.94 GB large and the game has had its Securom DRM cracked. The Sims 3 was set to be EA’s flagship game for 2009 but may have some sales hindered by piracy. This is not always true however as despite being leaked, Resident Evil 5 still set sales record for the series.
The game has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times already and is being called the “real deal” with little to no bugs or crashes.
EA has had a bad year so far in terms of piracy and leaks, especially with the debacle that came with the release of the hit game Spore which eventually led to a class action suit against the developer.

Microsoft’s XP SP3 release manager Chris Keroack has announced that the long awaited Service Pack has been released to manufacturing channels and will hit OEM and enterprise customers by April 29th.
On that day the SP3 will also be available for download from the Microsoft Download Center but it will be an optional download, most likely in response to the company’s recent debacle with the release of Vista SP1.
The key features of Service Pack 3 are “Microsoft’s updated Management Console 3.0, which appears in Windows Server 2008 and Vista; the new Windows Installer 3.1; an update to Wi-Fi protected access; and support for Network Access Protection, the “health checking” component used by Windows Server 2008.”
The official SP3 feature list is available here: Microsoft XP SP3 update list
