Sony’s latest Blu-ray player, the BDP-N460, will add for the first time, streaming video and audio, from Netflix, YouTube and Slacker.
The company does note however that regardless of what TV you have attached the wireless will work better with a Linksys WET610N Ethernet-to-Wi-Fi bridge.
The player has oboard decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, is BD-Live compliant, and will output HDMI Deep Color. The player can read photos and MP3s off USB drives and will upscale DVDs and AVCHD videos.
The BDP-N460 will begin shipping in October, with a price tag of $250 USD, the same price as other BD players with similar specs, and $50 cheaper than the PS3.

Toshiba Corp. has unveiled a bunch of new products at the IFA Consumer Electronics Tradeshow (2009) in Berlin, including it’s first Blu-ray stand-alone player and Blu-ray equipped multimedia laptop. A new upscaling DVD player promising, “stunning, near-HD 1080p picture quality from standard DVDs” is also included in the new products, as well as an LED-backlit LCD television, three new Camileo HD camcorders and a new touchscreen Mobile Internet Device.

Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray Disc Player
Toshiba UK announced the launch of the BDX2000 Blu-ray player, offering high image quality with a sophisticated design and underscoring Toshiba’s commitment to High-definition entertainment and the Blu-ray format it once was fighting against. Of course, the player touts full HD 1080p output and also the ability to play content at 24fps. Supporting BD-Live (Profile 2.0), the BDX2000 allows users to take advantage of interactive features through an Ethernet connection. It will become available in December 2009. (No Price info yet)

One month after announcing its release in Europe, Harman Kardon has announced it will release its first Blu-ray player, dubbed the BDP-1, in North America as well.
The BDP-1 will also have “advanced audio codec support and will play back 1080/24p videos without pulldown conversion.” A USB slot allows for JPEG and DivX playback from flash drives.
Harman Kardon is known mainly for its home theater A/V products but has been expanding of late. It will support MP3, WMA, LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, and DTS-HD Master Audio audio formats.
A view of the player shows that it has HDMI 1.3a connectors, as well as component and RCA video outputs, an Ethernet jack, coaxial and optical audio outputs and analog audio output.
The player will hit shelves during June with a price tag of $500 USD.
