How to Save YouTube Videos
Many of you out there probably have used YouTube before. It’s that nifty little site where you can watch the lives and antics of millions of people out there.
And then you probably came across a video clip you wish you could have saved onto your computer for a later viewing. Well, now you can!
Required Tools
1) FLV Player , a interactive media player
2) Greasemonkey, an addon for Mozilla Firefox
Instructions
1) Install Greasemonkey onto your Firefox browser by clicking on the download link at the link above.
2) Now, every time you watch a Youtube video, there should be a little red bar at the top of your window that says “Save As to download flash video”.
3) Save it to whatever name you want, but add on the extension of “.flv” at the end of the name.

Download YouTube movies to playback movies on their site. In addition to being universally supported on most computers, one of the many benefits of using Flash from a publishers standpoint is making it harder for people to download the movies. It’s not impossible and depending on how the Flash movies are played, you can sometimes simply dig in your Temp directory for the file because the server actually downloads the entire movie to your computer during playback. If you find a YouTube video you like, copy the URL to the page the video is on, paste it into the KeepVid download look up, choose YouTube from the list of sites and click the Download button.
For YouTube movies, it’s easier to let someone else do all the hard work of locating the file. My favorite solution for download YouTube movies is a Website called KeepVid, which locates downloads from a handful of Internet sites. It’s one of the few sites I bother bookmarking.
KeepVid will find the download link and provide instructions on how to download it.
Follow the directions and you’re almost done.YouTube uses the FLV Flash format, which isn’t immediately playable. You also need an app to play it back. Windows users will want to grab a copy of FLV Player to watch the files on your computer.
A better option is the shareware app SWF.max, which shows thumbnails of the movies and adds a number of features to control playback.

If you do not have an flv player then download the free FLV player now. You can search for videos on the popular media sites then download by pasting the url in the download box.
Step 1: Download video from Youtube. (Save video as video.flv)
Step 2: View your video in FLV Player.
