As of the end of last month, Sony has shipped 50 million PS3 units worldwide and it appears that most of those consoles have been sold to consumers.
Additionally, Sony has sold 8 million Move motion control systems as of April 3rd.
The PS3 launched in late November and the Move was released in September 2010.
Including PSP owners, the PlayStation Network has 75 million registered accounts, with over 40 million expected to be active.
Sony is about 3 million units behind the Xbox 360, which had a one-year head start and has seen extremely strong sales since the release of the Kinect motion control system.

Samsung, the world’s second-largest phone maker has said today that it will prioritize the Android and Bada mobile operating systems, making them key software platforms for their smartphones.
Says YH Lee, head of marketing at Samsung Mobile: “We are Prioritizing our Android platform. Android is very open and flexible, and there is a consumer demand for it.”
Android has quickly become the third biggest mobile OS in the world, behind Symbian and RIM, surpassing Apple and Microsoft, which had head starts.
Samsung launched the Bada OS last year and have introduced two phones running the software, the Wave and the Wave 723.
Lee says the company will launch a full lineup of Bada phones in the upcoming quarters.
Despite prioritizing the other smartphone OS’, Samsung does say they are releasing a Windows 7 device later in the year.

According to an interview with IGN, Sony senior VP of marketing Peter Dille says the company is on the fast track to passing the Xbox 360 in sales soon, also saying that the PS3 will still be around in 10 years, and the 360 will not.
“We can be passionate fans, but I don’t think they’ll be around in 10 years so I’m very confident we’ll pass them within that time frame,” says Dille. “I mean, we’ve got 31 million [units sold] worldwide right now - they’ve got 39 million [units sold]. I don’t even need to go out 10 years. I’m not going to make any predictions for your interview today other than we’ll pass them, but you look at where we are today and where they are today, and they had an opportunity to sprint as far ahead of us as possible when they had the head start. Well, we’re breathing down their necks and they can see us in the rearview mirror and it’s not going to take too long to pass them.”
Additionally, Dille confirmed that the company would begin adding subscription models to PSN, although gaming would remain completely free.
