Warner Home Video has said this week that it has partnered up with LG and Sony to offer 3D Blu-rays bundled with select Blu-ray 3D players, 3D HDTVs and 3D projectors.
A few of the new 3D Blu-rays being bundled are Imax Under the Sea 3D, Imax Space Station 3D and Imax Deep Sea 3D.
The move marks the first time Warner has bundled 3D titles with third-party products.
Consumers in both the U.S. and Canada who purchase the LG BX580 or BX585 3D network Blu-ray players by the end of the year are eligible for Under the Sea 3D.
Buyers in Europe, Asia, South America and Central America who purchase any LG Blu-ray 3D player, Blu-ray 3D home theater, 3D projector or 3D HDTV will get Space Station 3D.
“Imax is simply the best in 3D, and these visually stunning titles are perfect for consumers who want to take full advantage of and show off their new Blu-ray 3D home theater systems,” adds WHV VP Dorinda Marticorena.

Blockbuster Inc. has struck a deal with Samsung Electronics America Inc. to offer movie rentals through Samsung’s next generation of high-definition TVs. The move, aimed at regaining ground on Netflix, will allow users to receive digital rentals piped through the Internet with their TV remote control and a built-in feature in each TV set.
The rentals are expected to be priced between $1.99 and $3.99 and will be viewable for up to 24 hours. Netflix extended its products first to cover video streaming with a free supplement to its DVD-by-mail service launched in early-2007. Since then, Netflix has been at work getting its streaming features onto several consumer electronics products.
Blockbuster’s latest move puts it in partnership with the world’s largest manufacturer of flat-screen TVs, and moves it into Netflix’ space with support added to Samsung’s Blu-ray DVD players and home theater systems. There has been some speculation that Amazon may seek to acquire Netflix, which currently has a market value around $2.5 billion.

JVC has offered up a new product for anyone who is looking to go out of their way to make their home theater system a little bit different. The company has unveiled its first (and claims the world’s first) home 3D projector, built for use specifically with home theater systems. The JVC DLA-RS2 model is intended for people who like an illusion of multi-dimensional movies without the need for those infamous glasses.
JVC uses D-ILA projection and stereoscopic video processing to provide the 3D effect from “compatible content” without the need for the specialized glasses. The projector can produce Full HD (1080p) content and uses second-generation SENSIO 3D technology. It is noted as managing an image contrast ratio of 30000:1.
Obviously “3D content” is required for this projector to be any way special, but of course it will also look great when connected to your DVD-Video, Blu-ray, console etc. hardware. It will debut sometime in 2009 and currently has no price details.
