In late October we reported that Microsoft was blocking all “unlicensed” Xbox 360 storage devices, successfully forcing gamers to only purchase memory cards sold by Microsoft, at a higher price.
Large peripheral manufacturer Datel struck back in late November, filing an antitrust lawsuit.
In response, Microsoft filed motions to have the case dismissed but a judge has thrown out those motions today, clearing the way for Datel’s suit to move forward. Because the motions were dismissed, the two parties will now meet in preparation of their upcoming June 2nd hearing.
Microsoft recently sued the UK-based accessory maker over its Xbox 360 controllers, claiming the company illegally copied the design.
The controllers in question are the Datel “TurboFire” and “WildFire” wireless controllers, which sell for $40 USD online. Microsoft says the controllers infringe on a few patents held by the software giant.

Vodafone Spain has confirmed today that they accidently shipped 3000 smartphone handsets with MicroSD cards that were infected by the “Mariposa” malware.
Those affected are users who were shipped HTC Magic phones.
The carrier came clean after a meeting with Panda Security. The story of the infected memory cards began when a Panda technician was shipped an HTC Magic phone. He immediately recognized the malware, which is used to steal information.
Vodafone says the infection is “isolated and local,” and that users in other parts of the EU should not be worried.

JVC has introduced the new PICSIO GC-FM1 in Japan. The 5.8×2-inch camera features an 8-megapixel still photo sensor that can record video at 2.03 megapixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio at 1080p (or optionally 720p, VGA and QVGA). It records content in the H.264 video format at 30 frames per second and stores the content on SD or SDHC flash memory cards. It has a 2-inch LCD screen.
An equipped HDMI-output allows users to play their HD video on their HDTV with a HDMI cable at full resolution. A 4X digital zoom is available to use in place of an optical zoom and image stabilization corrects shaky video problems generally associated with pocket camcorders.
