LG has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission this week, asking the ITC to block the import of the Sony PlayStation 3.
The company is claiming that the Blu-ray drive in every PS3 console violates multiple LG patents.
Sony, Sony Corporation of America, Sony Electronics, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment America are all cited in the complaint, says Cnet.
The patents in question relate to “the way a Blu-ray player reproduces data from a Blu-ray disc” and how it “reproduces multiple data streams by way of multiple camera angles.”
Finally, LG says Sony is violating a patent relating to the display of subtitles in Blu-ray films.
LG’s choice, over 1500 days after the PS3 launched in the U.S., seems like a direct retaliation for Sony’s complaint filed with the ITC late last year over patent violations in mobile phones.

Facebook has sent out invites to members of the press to attend an event that will focus on Facebook’s mobile offerings.
The event is sure to re-spark the immediately-denied rumors that there is a Facebook-branded handset (or handsets) on the horizon. The media event will be held at Facebook’s Palo Alto headquarters next Wednesday.
The social networking giant recently revealed that of its 500 million members, approximately 150 million use the website from their mobile phones. It offers native software applications for handsets as well as hosting a mobile-friendly version of its site.
That is likely to be the main focus of the event. A Facebook spokesperson denied rumors back in December that the company was working with device manufacturers on Facebook-branded handsets, saying that building phones is just not what Facebook does.

ARM president Tudor Brown has revealed the earliest detail of Android 4.0, which has been dubbed Ice Cream by Google.
Android 3.0 Gingerbread has still not been officially launched by Google, but the company has said it will have a 2010 release.
Following Gingerbread is Honeycomb, which will likely be 3.1 or 3.5.
Forbes notes that Brown’s position at ARM would make him privy to Android’s long term roadmap, as ARM processor technologies are used in 95 percent of the world’s mobile phones.
There have been no official details on features coming with Gingerbread, Honeycomb or Ice Cream.
Ice Cream has a tentative Q2 2011 launch date.
