ARM president Tudor Brown has revealed the earliest detail of Android 4.0, which has been dubbed Ice Cream by Google.
Android 3.0 Gingerbread has still not been officially launched by Google, but the company has said it will have a 2010 release.
Following Gingerbread is Honeycomb, which will likely be 3.1 or 3.5.
Forbes notes that Brown’s position at ARM would make him privy to Android’s long term roadmap, as ARM processor technologies are used in 95 percent of the world’s mobile phones.
There have been no official details on features coming with Gingerbread, Honeycomb or Ice Cream.
Ice Cream has a tentative Q2 2011 launch date.

According to a roadmap revealed earlier this week, Microsoft will look to release their next updated operating system, codename “Windows 8,” in 2012.
The move will keep up the pattern Microsoft has developed in launching major releases every four years. The company, according to the slides, considers Windows Server 2008 a major release and the R2 as a “release updates.” Notably, Windows 7 is considered a “release update” as well.
Vista, released in 2007, had its release date pushed back three years when the company scrapped all existing work and started fresh after it was decided to base Vista on the then recently released Windows Server 2003.

LG Display has announced today the launch of a prototype version of the Solar Cell e-Book reader, a 6-inch device with its own solar panel.
The company says the solar cell is 0.7 millimeters thick and weighs 20 grams, thinner then a credit card.
Battery life is extended by up to a full day of reading if charged using the solar panel for five hours, adds the company.
There is no roadmap for the device.
Says Ki Yong Kim, head of the Solar Cell Office at LG Display: “E-books are attracting a lot of attention because they offer the advantage of storing thousands of books’ worth of contents in an easy-to-carry device. The idea of e-book combined with solar cell will offer users the added benefit of longer usage. We will continue to provide users with enhanced convenience and value to solidify our lead in next-generation, environmentally friendly products.”
