The link to the youtube.com page usually popups automatically in VDownloader, but sometimes you must manually insert it. Simply copy and paste the address from the browser into VDownloader URL.
A box will pop up, prompting you to choose a saving location. Choose a location, tell it to save as either AVI or MPG, and hit okay. A status bar will appear in the bottom of VDownloader, where you can view what percentage of the video has been downloaded.
